These beautiful Philodendron Florida Ghosts and are growing wonderfully in average home conditions! This means acclimation to your home should be far quicker than when acclimating plants from a tropical greenhouse. Current temperature in this plant room is 75°F, and humidity is approximately 70%. Everything is thriving.
The new leaves on these can be anywhere from a minty green, to vibrant yellow, or even solid white. This is all determined by the amount of light the plant received. If you want white leaves (like my mother plant pictured in the first photo) then you’ll need bright direct light. The less light, the closer to green new leaves will be.
*Expect imperfections, as these are living plants and imperfections are only natural. I cannot guarantee yellow, mint, or white leaves upon arrival. If an all green plant arrives (no brand new leaves), give it plenty of light and new leaves will be white, cream, yellow, or mint (depending on light intensity). The second photo is intended as a representation and is not the exact plant you will receive.
Upon arrival, please allow plant(s) to sit in a warm spot with moderate indirect light. I highly recommend leaving them in their nursery pots for at least a few weeks before repotting to revive them and give them a chance to settle into their new environment. However, they can stay in this size nursery pot until the end of this growing season with no ill effects.
Allow plant(s) to slowly adjust to whatever light source you plan to provide by moving the plant a little bit closer to said source each day. This is in an effort to help reduce shock.
There is a high likelihood your new plant could be very stressed from shipping. I do everything in my power to mitigate shipping stress, but sometimes it’s unavoidable. Signs of shipping stress could include - though are not always limited to - curled or drooping leaves, discoloration, yellow spotting, crispy tips on leaves, and the loss of some leaves or stems. Virtually all types of shipping stress will rectify themselves within a week or two. During this time of recuperation, you can further ease stress by (1) not using any fertilizers (2) watering with very small amounts of water as opposed to larger typical waterings and (3) keeping the plant away from direct sunlight and heavy drafts or temperature swings.
